Filippo Inzaghi struck twice as Milan overcame stubborn resistance from Marseille to win 1-2 on the night. AC Milan coach Leonardo will be delighted with the way his side has bounced back after some disappointing results in the Serie A.

Meanwhile Bologna have made a bad start to what is surely going to be a difficult season for them. They have lost two of the three games played so far and are languishing in the bottom half of the table.

Last week, the sank to a 2-0 defeat at home to Cheivo Verona with Giampiero Pinzi and Sergio Pillissier scoring the winning goals. Giuseppe Papadopulo's men will face Juventus next week and these two games against Milan and Juve could very well scupper their season even before it begins in the right earnest.
