With the involvement of such giants as Juventus and Real Madrid, the competition will prove very entertaining. They will both fancy their chances of claiming the title although they will certainly not have it all their own way.

Sevilla have proven formidable opposition both home and abroad over recent seasons and should put up a good showing on home soil. Lyon will do their very best to retain their crown whilst Porto will have a good following being so close to home. Turkish champions Besiktas, whom replaced bitter rivals Fenerbahce who could not compete due to Champions League commitments, will be determined not just to make up the numbers whilst Aston Villa manager Martin ONeill will see the Peace Cup as an opportunity to show that his team are not simply one-season wonders.

None of the competing teams are newcomers to championship football, with LDU Quito having competed in the FIFA World Club Championship alongside Manchester United. The challenge of playing some of the world’s top sides, and the world’s top players, is one that is relished by any player no matter whether it is on the World Cup Finals or a pre-season friendly in front of 1,000 fans. There is no doubt that the players currently preparing for the up and coming tournament will be determined to give a good account of themselves and for that reason the tournament should be well worth watching.
