AC Milan finished third last year and the biggest change in their squad is the abyss left by the loss of Kaka to Real Madrid. AC Milan was formed in 1899 and won a title within two years of its formation. After the Second World War, they enjoyed one of their best ever spells whilst led by Gunner Nordahl, a Swede by birth. He was one of the best players in the entire Italian league and netted two-hundred and ten goals in just 257 games. He is widely considered to be one of the best, if not the best, players to ever put on an AC Milan shirt.

Although AC Milan retain a high pedigree for success, they have not been without their disappointing seasons in their history. They have been relegated to Serie B twice, once for taking part in game-fixing scandal during the 1980 season. A decade later, the team won four Serie A titles and two European Cups. The widespread success of the teams can be attributed to the high quality of the players who play with AC Milan and the pressure put on the squad to perform by the management. In fact, two straight coaches were canned after two seasons of disappointing play. Above all else, losing is unacceptable at AC Milan.
